Creating the Small TV Stand

By |March 27th, 2013

I completed the TV stand this week and I’m pretty happy with the results. I still have a little bit of work to to do to get the woodworking plans ready to add to the download shop. I’m targeting to make them available by the end of this month.

If you’re interested you will find below a few details on the build.
Creating the Top and Bottom
The TV Stand is 13″ deep and 22″ wide. To create the top and bottom I edge glued two 1″ x 8″ red oak boards together to create a blank that was slightly larger than the finished piece. I used biscuits to strengthen the joint and let this setup overnight.
After the glue had dried I […]

New Project – Small TV Stand

By |March 18th, 2013

Well, the china cabinet went on hold again as I received a request to quickly design and build a small TV stand. You know, the ones that sit on top of a dresser and allow you to put a cable box underneath. After looking around at some of the manufactured units to get an idea on styles and function (it’s amazing how much money some of these small units are being sold for) I came up with a design for a simple unit that is assembled with “knock-down” hardware. The stand can easily be modified to expand it from holding one electronic device to holding two by just replacing the sides, and adding a shelf. The top and bottom […]

Customer Showcase – Kent from New Jersey

By |February 23rd, 2013

Kent sent us a few pictures of the tack trunk he built for his daughter using plans purchased from the Kyserike Kraftsman. His choice for wood was birch plywood and oak trim. He has received many complements from people at his daughter’s barn and who now want a tack trunk like this for their own. Thanks Kent for sharing your work with us. It looks great!

Sundial Stand

By |February 18th, 2013

This very simple looking sundial stand took quite some time to design and create, mostly because it involved using some techniques that I had not previously tried. I learned a lot about creating curves and the beauty of curves in woodworking.

The project involved creating a few new jigs including a circle cutting jig for my Rikon 14 inch bandsaw, learning to use the circle cutting jig for my router, and the use of a dish carving bit for my router. I needed to create a circle template for the dish carving router bit and used a spiral saw to cut this from 3/4″ MDF.

The sundial base was created using Spanish Cedar. I used this same species of wood to […]

Customer Showcase – A Gift for a Granddaughter

By |February 7th, 2013

James from Virgina created this wonderful tack trunk for his Granddaughter using the plans purchased from the Kyserike Kraftsman. Before he started the project James was not even aware of what a tack trunk was, but he is now an expert!  He used box joints for the sliding tray and the results look great. Thanks for sharing your granddaughters tack trunk with us James!
