I actually used the same spar urethane top coat on the inside that I did on the outside. I used Minwax "Helmsman" spar Urethane. I used two coats on the inside (I think I went for 3 on the exterior). I'm sorry, but I don't have any experience with Waterlox. I did just take a look at their website and their products look interesting. I would suggest looking at their marine products for the tack trunk. If you decide to go with the Waterlox I would love to hear the results.
